Yes, folks, its going to be a goooood Monday! I came across this post on bloute.co.za about a new web 2.0 muti.co.za-like site for Afrikaans users! It is called blik.co.za
It is similar to muti.co.za but focussed on Afrikaans speaking people! Well done Gerhard Venter! You guys are making us proud!

Hello Stii
Thanks for the kind words and encouragement!
Best wishes

mmm, sorry to be the nancy here. But personally I find it pointless to create an afrikaans only digg-like site, especially if the platform is already so matured.
Myself and Uno often talk about exactly this sort of startup and the issue here is that success is even less likely in an instance much like this due to the constraints. If one really wants to create an afrikaans version of muti, why not approach muti and collaborate. In stead of going solo and dilute the market shares of an already tiny tiny tiny existing market share?
Ugh, this annoys me.
Stefano blik is not intended to be a startup. It was only done for fun, and to enable me and a few friends to easily find interesting Afrikaans writing on the web.
I think muti has the effect of encouraging more and better writing in local and African blogs, so maybe blik can achieve the same for Afrikaans.
If the site gets a small but loyal following, I will have achieved all my goals.
Please also take a look at this:

Yes, Gerhard, I fully understand where you are coming from! We as developers tend to do these sort of things! We do it to see if we can. Hell, I think there is a lot of developers that would love to work with the muti.co.za sources and add value to it. If they do then muti will kick digg and reddit.com’s ASS!!
[...] though, I do get what Stefano says: “If one really wants to create an afrikaans version of muti, why not approach muti and [...]
Of course Gerhard, I understand that perspective and I honour it. I was just pointing out that even though it is just a hobby/personal quest/wild goose chase, it doesn’t stop the fact that there are some staunch supporters and splitting them in 2 is still diluting the small market. One wants the market to grow, so that your developments can grow, however, if you are in a situation like we are in South Africa, this means that standing together is essential. If a project is not for gain, you might as well approach muti and ask them if you could spearhead an afrikaans page. This will bring the staunch supporters of blik as well as muti together. Not only will you gain more traffic, you will strengthen the project and similar prospective projects coming from South Africa. A long term problem cannot be solved with a short term frame of mind.
