Mike gets burnt over Geek dinner…

Ai tog, Mike… All I can say is welcome to the problems(?) in the Open Source community! And what is funny for me is that whether it is software or a dinner that everybody owns that belongs to nobody (ROFL, good 1 Mike!), the one thing that always happen is that something new gets born.
If you look at software, the exact same thing happens there. A developer do not agree with his fellow developers about how things should be done so he splits off and re-develop something to his own taste.
One good thing though is that that gives us CHOICES! We all love choices, don’t we?

Look, Stii, I don’t want to split anything up or much less take away from an awesome culture that has built up by awesome people. I certainly don’t want to own it either. I want to support, seed and help grow it. I got bullish (I hear) and branded it with my company name, and that was my error. If people got me wrong, I am deeply sorry, but hey, I just want to drink wine! And preferably do it with humans I like.
I hear you and agree with you as I don’t really see an issue with what you are/were trying to achieve. It was just kind of humourous the parallel between what has happened with you and what happens frequently in the software development industry.
I see your point too Stii… I’m somehow slap-bang in the middle of this kerfoefle!! lol. If we don’t take it all too seriously then we can use the attention to get more attention and hence more people to join in the geekdinners fun:-p
Hahaha Stii excellent fellow.. it’s so true, ideas & intellectual property are so often so close to us that we take these things very personally. But thankfully we’re all smart enough to come back & realise that the long-term evolutionary process benefits us more than individual territorial rights - we ALL benefit from the geekdinners.
AND I really want you to come and talk at one of the next CT ones - or maybe we need to do a roadtrip & raid your hometown ;-D
Damn right Dave! I agree with you let’s spin this friction into igniting some real vooma here.
Rock on y’all.. loveya
That is one my new years resolutions. Take the positive out of the negative. Teaches one to appreciate a lot more than complain.
