A really great music video!

This music video by the band called “Straatligkinders” (Afrikaans for Street Light Children) is one of the best videos I’ve seen in a long, long time. What makes it even more special is the fact that it is by a South African band and producers. Even if you do not know Afrikaans, the video is well worth the watch. The song is also not bad at all! The song is called “Avontuur van ‘n hartbreek” (English: Adventure of a heartbreak). It sounds heavily influenced by Killswitch Engage. I saw on the Facebook page that Killswitch Engage is listed as one of their influences, which explains everything! Great song. Great video!

Very nice song and video. It’s fantastic to see more and more real rock acts performing in Afrikaans. Such an improvement on all the soppy, poppy rubbish that most Afrikaans music was in the past.
Amen Steve! Geez, I really hate those soppy, poppy rubbish. Its an embarrassment.
There’s quite a lot of Afrikaans (and other local) rock on RhythmOnline. Bought a Rokkeloos album there a while back. They’re pretty good and I just added their new song Brandjoubra to my cart.
As it happens, Straatligkinders put on a phenomenal performance at Oppikoppi this past weekend - everyone was very impressed. They’ve definitely upped their game over the past year, and I think this video is part of the excellent package that they are turning themselves into.
The instrumentals and visuals are awesome but I’m not so sure about the lyrics and the singing. IMHO it would have been better without that but maybe it’s just me.
