I saw that Youtube has a Miss Horrorfest competition for the month of September! Quite interesting, I must admit. The only problem is they do not route their URL’s all that cool… If you enter http://youtube.com/horrorfest you get to the competition page, but if you add a slash at the end ( http://youtube.com/horrorfest/ ), you get a 404 Not Found error. Prolly will fix it soon.
Any way, its not the end of the world! The horror fest does look interesting I must say! Amature horrorfest 90 seconds videos for cash if you are good and a girl. US$50 000. Not too shabby! So guess what my wife is doing the rest of September!
Me and Charl is in Gaborone, Botswana for the next two weeks. We landed this morning and all I can say is it is HOT! HOT HOT HOT! Something like 37 degrees Celsius! Madness…
I have to say, we’re staying at the University of Pennsylvania flats and they have wicked internet connections! Seriously fast and hot wireless…
So for the next two weeks, in between development meetings and planning etc… We’ll be talking from Gabs.
I’m not one of Placebo’s biggest fan. Now and again they release a brilliant song or a brilliant cover of someone else’s song. This is one of those brilliant covers. They cover the Kate Bush song Running up that hill and they do it brilliantly!
I’m having all sorts of crap the last couple of days! First on the list is Skype. It seems that they’re experiencing some problems with their authetication servers. So the whole world seems quiet and everyone looks like the are reverting to old technology like phoning each other… You can monitor this: http://heartbeat.skype.com/ to see when this will be fixed!
Next, Twitter is doing the weirdo. Keep getting SERVER ERROR messages trying to access Twitter profiles. It also does not update my IM client when friends send updates to their profiles. I’ve written a python updater class, which also bails on me periodically. Oh, the joys of “too much activity for the system resources to handle”…
Then there was del.icio.us, gmail… Not going my way today…
First Intelligence Magazine started with their blog, now SACM follows suite! I have to say, while IM went with a blogspot blog, SACM went one better and did a custom Wordpress hosted one. Nice one guys. Also, I like the content a bit better. Last post on IM was on the 9th of May. A bit disappointing… Yep, it takes time to blog! We all know that…
All in all, well done guys! Could be a valuable tool for you!
Its been more than a month after the Search Engine project. To date I have had zero response from ANY of the engines I ranted about. See, I went and physically submitted this blog on every one of them.
Surprise, surprise! The ONLY 1 that seems to have accepted the submission was… (drumroll, please!) Ananzi! Aardvark, Jonga and Funnel notified me that my submission was in for review, but alas…
So out of all the reviewed search engines South African search engines it is only Grabble and Ananzi who returns this blog if you search for mootools!
PS: Kudus for Tux in the logo. Think this is because I’m hitting the site with Linux? Anyways.
There was a debate a while ago when the last musical instrument was invented. It turned out that the reactable is the latest. Below is the reactable in action. Pretty nifty!
Mike and Dave’s Amplitute episode 5 is out and available! Brilliant as ever, guys!
A special thanx for the mention of our GeekDinner on the 9th of February!
Oh and I loved the interview. Most informative and interesting! Good going guys!
Oh and if I may make an suggestion towards your tonsil of the week:
Coca-Cola for changing the shape of their 2 Litre bottle! How stupid is THAT. Their 2 Litre bottle is sooo unique and is a brand of its own. They changed it to some cheapish stupid shape like all their imitators use…
We’re rolling our own and its going to be smoking! We have Dave and Max and Chris and (maybe) Tania visiting us from Cape Town, enlightning us with their words of wisdom… and thats only for starters!
So if you are free on the 9th of February (its a Friday, btw) then join us @ Kwelanga Lodge just outside of George.
Oh and for the Jozi Geeks or Jeeks, Kulula.com is pretty affordable if you book NOW! (hint, hint, Mike…)
So if you have any questions, feel free to drop me a mail on stii1973@gmail.com or go to the wiki page and rsvp!
