Vodacom is giving away MacBooks?!
Feb

I hardly could believe my eyes when I saw this. Finally it seems that the Core Group is waking up and starting to make deals. That or Vodacom saw that there is a growing market for MacBooks. The latter seems more believable.
I got SPAMMED in my offline mailbox today with the latest cellphone specials flyer thingy. On the last page they advertised that you could get a MacBook with a 3G MyMeg 500 contract. There are two other laptops you could get with the deal too, but who cares?

this is just too damn tempting!
Hey I dunno, that Dell cooks.
Hey Stii,
The last ad I saw for this you really did pay a lot extra for the Macbook. It definitely wasn’t free!
henk
Stii, whats your take the MacBook? Obviously being an ASP.Net developer I’ll need to run Parallel to install VS2008.
Hey Steven,
If you read Justin’s review on Nudjit, (http://nudjit.com/2008/03/04/macbook-vs-macbook-pro/) you’ll see that the one area where MacBooks are a bit lacking is memory. If you are going to run Parallels and VS on it, I’d make the investment of an extra gig RAM. From my windows programming days (it was VS 2005? I think) I remembered that it was pretty taxing on resources.
As far as Parallels go, it would work like a charm. I know a bunch of people running parallels without much complaints. You could of course make a dual boot setup. As noted by lots of people, “Windows runs best on a Mac.”
Thanks mate
